This is ironic when the same company that made the game also made the movie adaptation and they too fail to know what makes a movie great.

Final Fantasy 7 Advent Children has no plot and should have been a video game instead. The first problem is that the movie gives a very useless recap of the events that happens in the legendary video game Final Fantasy 7 and alienating audiences who never played the game.

If you never played the video game you'll have no idea what's going on or who anyone is. You'll most likely laugh at the fact that antagonists are looking for "Mother" that they keep mentioning their mommy throughout the movie.

Now if you have played the video game this adds nothing to the mythology and it's a huge letdown that most of the characters have little screen time.

Nearly every character was pointless in the movie and added nothing absolutely nothing to the plot, it's the reason I almost quit watching it.

Now the most pathetic thing about this movie is that half of the movie is nothing but action scenes which wouldn't be a problem if the first half had any salvageable storyline that explained what was going on.

The only positive is that it provides some pretty cool actions scenes, but violence alone doesn't make it good.

Simply put the plot will leave any viewer empty of any entertainment. The visuals are decent and are a feast for the eyes when you see violence. The cinematography is not that bad either, there's some really some great shot to be seen.

Whatever you do, don't watch this movie in English. The dubbed voice acting ranges from bad to horrible; this could explain the lack of plot and dialogue.

The dubbing easily has some of the worst voice acting I have ever heard from anything animated and the laughably bad dialogue doesn't help either.

You actually hear the line "Your mom's cool. What the hell am I saying? Now I've played the game before heading into the movie and it took longer than I expected, which payed off because I would have been clueless on what I was watching.

While the game itself might be a little dated, seeing the story revolve into something complex is better than playing the actual game.

If you're a fan then go ahead and watch it. If you're not a fan then you might not like it. What I do like about this is that it's artsy with all the beautiful scenes and original music scores.

This is also a film in which you have to think hard especially if you never played the games before. I like films in which you have to think to understand it.

It adds for a more enjoyable experience. I really liked that scene in which Cloud has to kill the dragon and his team mates are helping him.

May 21, I haven't played "Final Fantasy VII" but this movie was extremely good, i prefer to listen to it in japanese though, because the english dubbing is really bad like a godzilla movie.

But they got one of my favorite video game composers to return to do the music for this film, Nobuo Ouematsu. Ouematsu is famous for doing all them usic for "Square Enix" games and to do a video game movie based off of a square enix game it comes as no surprise he would do it, and he did a fantastic job as always, including a great remake of the Sephiroth theme "One Winged Angel.
