During a fight with the Flash, she blinds him and drops some shocking news about Zoom. Meanwhile, Barry and Patty go out on a date. Barry engineers a dangerous plan to defeat Zoom, but Caitlin sides with Jay and deems it too dangerous for Barry to engage with the speed demon.
However, Iris shows her support and brings forth a surprising ally. Grodd returns to Central City and kidnaps Caitlin, and Barry races to find her before it's too late.
Meanwhile, Cisco plans his first date with the new barista at Jitters; and Patty begins to suspect Barry is hiding something from her. But Hawkman, a man with wings, shows up and flies off with Kendra.
Meanwhile, Harrison develops a serum to make Barry run faster and asks Jay to test it. Meanwhile, Joe and Iris meet Wally West.
Now that they've grown closer, Barry considers telling Patty that he is The Flash. The Flash's second season begins, as Buffy's always would, by having its heroes pick up the pieces, and it does so nicely.
It's also reasonably smart without being show-offy. Tuesday's launch, meanwhile, is a nice reminder that nothing -- at least that good stuff -- has changed.
Not every story the show tells needs to be life-lessonish, and The Flash can veer cornball and simplistic sometimes. Still, I love the right stuff that The Flash represents.
He's a blazing streak of Tomorrowland in a gloomy, doomy, fury road culture. I believe The Flash season 2 is building a framework to keep from completely baffling its viewers later; they've started by re-establishing the foundation, the very basics of the show.
There's much more to consider going into Season 3 than "The Race of His Life" necessarily wrought during the hour itself, but the overall construction felt admirably solid.
Season two may be a step down from what had been a brilliant debut, but when it comes right to it, it still manages to deliver where it counts.
Back with reinvigorated style and a cast that only continues to grow, The Flash is off to a strong and suitable start for the series.

Netflix Enhancer. As much as it pained me to see Ronnie replaced in the Firestorm dynamic, it was nice to see such a likable character like Jax be brought into the team.
This episode also introduced the beginning of Earth-2 Harrison Wells' story arc, which proved to be a very exciting twist.
Never have we seen Barry more defeated than in this moment. It's devastating. It's riveting. It's proof of just how much of a threat Zoom really is.
Nothing can beat a great crossover episode with Arrow , especially one that helps launch the whole Legends of Tomorrow storyline into being with the villainous Vandal Savage.
Getting to see the evil doppelgängers of Caitlin and Cisco as Killer Frost and Reverb, respectively made for a truly spectacular episode and allowed viewers to see what life on Earth-2 was really like.
These back-to-back episodes serve as almost one big joint story, so I'd be amiss to include one without including the other.
Plus, this one also introduced us to Season 2's biggest mystery aside from Zoom's identity : the man in the iron mask.
We still don't know who he is, but something tells me that the eventual reveal is going to make you want to go back and look for all the clues you may have missed in this moment.
