He sets out for revenge against Rick's group after they kill a lot of Negan's people at a Savior outpost. Eventually, Negan and a large portion of his people follow and ambush the group during their trip to the Hilltop.
After cornering and introducing himself to Rick's group, Negan brutally murders Glenn and Abraham with a baseball bat wrapped in barbed wire he calls "Lucille", named after his late wife.
Afterwards, Negan takes a portion of Alexandria's supplies so that he doesn't have to kill any more of their residents, but still murders Olivia and Spencer; Rick then plans a rebellion against the Saviors.

Despite this and his backstabbing, Negan offers Simon a chance of leadership of the Saviors by fighting to the death; Simon accepts.
Simon initially gets the upper hand before Negan eventually overpowers him. Negan then brutally strangles Simon to death, all the while furiously berating his right-hand man for ruining what chance they had left of making peace with Rick and the rest of the communities.

Alpha , portrayed by Samantha Morton , [42] is the leader of the Whisperers, a mysterious group of hostile survivors who disguise themselves with the skin of the undead in order to blend in with them and not get noticed, and the main antagonist of the second half of season nine and the whole of season ten.
She is shown to be a cold, cunning, egocentric, psychopathic, sadistic, and highly intelligent woman who is a hardened, determined survivor and a strong leader to those in her group, appearing to enjoy being in a position of authority and does not take kindly to anyone who opposes her.

She and her people first appear in " What Comes After ", fighting against a walking horde that were overwhelming them and are shortly after rescued by Judith Grimes.
Magna and her companions are then brought to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, before eventually moving to reside in the Hilltop Colony.
In " Who Are You Now? Though she considers attacking Michonne, who is untrusting of her, she relents after seeing Michonne's family and instead turns over her last knife.
In " Squeeze ", Magna and Connie become trapped in a walker-filled cave leaving their fates unknown. However, in " Walk with Us ", Magna is revealed to have survived and escaped, but Connie's fate remains unknown as Magna got separated from her in the horde.
Judith Grimes , portrayed by Cailey Fleming , [47] is Lori's daughter and Carl's half-sister who was born in the third season episode " Killer Within ".
Maggie delivers her via a crude C-section , using Carl's knife; Lori dies during childbirth. Daryl nicknames the baby "Lil' Asskicker" and Rick allows Carl to name her after his third grade teacher, Judith Mueller.
Judith's fate is seemingly unknown following The Governor's final assault on the prison. Rick and Carl find Judith's empty car seat, stained heavily with blood, and presume her to be dead.
However, it is revealed that Tyreese had rescued Judith before escaping from the prison with Lizzie and Mika; the three are walking through a forest, with Tyreese holding Judith in his arms, before they reunite with Carol.
During the year and a half that passed since the end of the war, Judith has been raised by Rick and Michonne where the three live as a happy family in a rebuilt and thriving Alexandria Safe-Zone.
Six years later, Magna's group take on a herd of walkers. They quickly get overwhelmed, but are saved when the walkers around them get shot from the trees.
Magna and her group escape into the woods to find an older Judith, around nine-years-old, armed with Rick's revolver and a katana. They introduce themselves and ask what her name is; she picks up her hat and introduces herself as Judith Grimes.
Judith later argues with Michonne to allow Magna's group to stay and also shown to have befriended Negan out of pity for his situation.
When Negan escapes, Judith lets him go and then escorts him back to Alexandria after she finds him on the road.
It is Judith who ultimately convinces Michonne to reconnect Alexandria with the other communities. According to Negan, Judith is just as much of a badass as Carl was and can tell when someone is lying to her, leading to Negan treating Judith with a great deal of respect and being honest with her during his stories of her family and friends.
After 23 days of the initial outbreak, Lydia and her parents remained in a moldy basement with a group of survivors.
Lydia used to be naive about the state of the world and always spent time with her father, since her mother is a very cold person.
After the death of her father, Lydia begins to have a nefarious treatment on the part of her mother. In " Adaptation ", after being captured by Daryl and Michonne, and kept as a prisoner in a cell at the Hilltop Colony, Lydia begins to form a bond with Henry.
Eventually, Lydia falls in love with Henry and begins a relationship with him, ultimately rejecting the Whisperers in favor of the other communities who agree to grant Lydia asylum.
However, her relationship with Henry is cut short when he, alongside nine others, is brutally murdered by her mother.
She then lives in the Kingdom with Daryl before its fall and moves into the Alexandria Safe-Zone, displaying some suicidal tendencies out of guilt.
Several months after the fair massacre, Lydia continues living with Daryl in Alexandria, but struggles to fit in with many people being angry and untrusting of her.
In addition, she has adopted Henry's staff and chosen form of aikido that Henry had learned from Morgan. When a small group attempts to attack and kill her, Negan is the only one to step in and save Lydia, though it causes trouble when he accidentally kills one of them in the process.
Eventually, when Carol learns that Alpha has lied to her people about killing Lydia, Carol tries to use Lydia to turn them against Alpha. After encountering Gamma and seeing her reaction to Lydia's well-being, Lydia immediately realizes what Carol has done and runs away, refusing to be used by someone again.
In " Stalker ", Lydia returns to rescue Daryl, who is succumbing to his wounds inside an abandoned gas station after a one-on-one brutal fight with Alpha; her mother succumbs to her own wounds as well.
Recognizing that while the people in the communities aren't perfect, they are Lydia's best chance of living a normal life. However, she is unable to kill her mother, who requested Lydia to kill her; she departs with Daryl and nurses him back to health.
Disowning her mother permanently causes Alpha to press the conflict into full-out war. Connie , portrayed by Lauren Ridloff , [49] is a deaf member of Magna's group.
After moving to the Hilltop Colony, she not only saves a baby that the Whisperers have left behind to be eaten by walkers, but helps Daryl in rescuing Henry and Lydia from the Whisperers, traveling with them until they escorted the two back to the Kingdom.
Months later, these events have bonded Connie and Daryl, who now share a very close friendship with Carol even indicating to Daryl that she sees something other than friendship between him and Connie; however, Daryl tells Carol that his relationship with Connie is not at all like that.
It is led by the opaque leadership of Shane until Rick's arrival. Under Rick's more balanced leadership, most of the survivors want to live peacefully away from the walkers except for Ed and Shane who cause problems, but with the course of history the majority of the group dies while others depart the group.
The Greene Family Farm , first appearing in " Bloodletting ", is led by patriarch Hershel Greene, with whom he lives with his daughters Maggie and Beth, his foreman Otis, his wife Patricia, and Jimmy, Beth's boyfriend, who is tutored by Hershel.
At the beginning, he had many problems with Rick about the walkers and ignored what was happening in the outside world, but eventually Hershel and Rick formed a great friendship by becoming advisors to one another.
The Living , first appearing in " Nebraska ", is a hostile group of bandits and manipulators who are heavily armed with automatic weaponry.
Few members of the group appeared on screen, except for the scouting members that encountered Rick's group. They are the first antagonistic group encountered in the series and the only one with an unknown status.
Five inmates in the prison survived the outbreak, locked up in the canteen for ten months in the West Georgia Correctional Facility. Until released from the canteen by Rick's group, they were unaware of the walker plague that wiped out a large percentage of the population.
Rick tells them they can live in a separate cell block. Although two of them ultimately join Rick's group, they all eventually die. Woodbury , first appearing in " Walk with Me ", is a town in Georgia of which a few streets have been walled off to keep the town operating.
It is led by Philip Blake, who has adopted the nickname "The Governor" from the townspeople. Woodbury had a population of close to eighty people at the time of Andrea and Michonne's arrival, but due to various factors such as the prison group's attack on the town and The Governor's slaughter of nearly his entire army , the population dwindles dramatically throughout the third season.
Robert Kirkman later confirmed that any and all Woodbury characters, who were not brought to the prison are deceased. The remaining population of Woodbury at the prison community dwindles further throughout the fourth season as a result of the spreading of the flu.
As of " Inmates ", nearly every resident of Woodbury is confirmed to be deceased, as the bus is apparently overwhelmed and everyone on board becomes zombified and later put down by Maggie, Bob, and Sasha.
It has been confirmed that any other Woodbury resident except Jeanette not seen dying either on the bus or at the prison is deceased nonetheless.
Thus, the entire population of Woodbury is confirmed to be dead. After The Governor executes most of the able-bodied Woodbury residents, who had been members of his militia , only the children and elderly townspeople remain at Woodbury under the watchful eye of Tyreese and Sasha.
After Andrea's suicide due to being bitten, Rick and his group return to the prison with the remaining Woodbury survivors including Tyreese, Sasha, Eryn, Jeanette, Karen, and Ms.
McLeod , swelling the prison's population from the original ten to around thirty. Six to seven months afterwards, numerous other survivors have joined the prison community, from various locations and backgrounds.
The compound is initially peaceful and thriving until an influenza epidemic spreads throughout the community and infects numerous residents, killing many of those stricken.
However, the issue is resolved after a scouting group returns with medicine. Shortly afterwards, The Governor returns with a new militia and executes the captive Hershel, igniting a firefight between the two groups.
This battle leads to the fall of the prison community after The Governor tears down the fences. As a result of the flu and The Governor's assault, the numbers dwindle significantly.
The escaping newcomers are found dead on the public transport bus for the prison, while five other newcomers remain alive.
Lizzie and Mika are later killed, as well as Bob, and eventually Tyreese. Sasha is the last prison newcomer to hold out, but she eventually dies after taking a suicide pill given to her by Eugene.
She eventually becomes a walker, and attacks Negan and his men. Afterwards, Sasha is put down by Maggie. After wandering on his own for six to seven months alone, following the fall of Woodbury and defections of Martinez and Shumpert, The Governor encounters the Chambler Family holed up in their apartment building.
The surviving Chamblers later set off with The Governor who has said his name is "Brian Hariot" to seek shelter elsewhere following the death of David, but The Governor's actions lead to Lilly and Meghan's deaths.
Martinez's Camp , also known as the River Camp , first appearing in " Dead Weight ", is a campsite located within rural Georgia on an open field, containing over thirty survivors.
It is led by Caesar Martinez until being briefly succeeded by Pete Dolgen and then by a brainwashed Governor, who causes their downfall.
The group consists veteran soldiers , former members of the National Guard , and civilians. Overall, they are a self-taught militia who try to survive at all costs.
After The Governor secretly kills Caesar and Pete, he gives a speech to the majority of the camp survivors about the prison and its inhabitants, persuading them to force the prison community residents to give up the prison.
However, all members except Tara of The Governor's newly formed militia are killed by the prison defenders and swarming walkers.
The Claimers , first appearing in " Claimed ", is a dangerous group of heavily armed men who raid homes in order to search for supplies and weapons.
Over time however, the group gradually descends into a sinister lifestyle where they eventually became a group of marauders. They begin to commit numerous horrific actions which include murdering innocent survivors, savagely raping several women, and sadistically hunting their victims.
Terminus is a sanctuary that is first mentioned in the second half of the fourth season over a radio broadcast heard by Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, and Bob while driving in Zach's car.
After the fall of the prison, the small factions of prison residents, who survive the assault find the signs directing survivors towards Terminus, and each group slowly begins to make its way there.
The exact location of Terminus is finally revealed in " Us ", where it appears to be a relatively vibrant, well-secured settlement, but in actuality hides a dark and brutal secret.
It is later confirmed that Terminus is indeed a cannibalistic group, where they kill and then carve up any new arrivals that refuse to join them or prove to be a threat.
After Terminus is destroyed by Carol's siege in " No Sanctuary ", only six residents survive and escape, becoming known as The Hunters.
After Carol destroys Terminus, Gareth and his people begin to hunt for Rick's group in order to take revenge, now known as The Hunters. Grady Memorial Hospital , first appearing in " Slabtown ", is revealed to be the home of a sheltered group of survivors, who believe that military assistance will eventually come to them after a certain period of time.
The hospital is run under a strict authoritarian regime by a group of corrupt police officers. The Alexandria Safe-Zone , first appearing in " The Distance ", is a suburban community protected by large walls, located near Alexandria, Virginia.
It is a self-powered community with solar panels to help power the homes and water system. Glenn ist ein junger Amerikaner koreanischer Herkunft.

Er beweist immer wieder Mut und Loyalität gegenüber seinen Freunden und verliert diese Prinzipien über die Zeit nicht. Glenn ist oftmals die Stimme der Vernunft, wenn es darum geht, die Gruppe vor den Auswirkungen schlecht überlegter Entscheidungen zu bewahren.
Auf Hershels Farm verliebt er sich in dessen Tochter Maggie und die beiden kommen recht schnell zusammen. Im Gefängnis macht er ihr einen Heiratsantrag, den sie annimmt und die beiden begreifen sich von da an als Ehepaar.
Als im Gefängnis eine tödliche Grippe ausbricht, wird Glenn ebenfalls infiziert und überlebt nur knapp die Krankheit.
Während der letzten Schlacht um das Gefängnis wird die Gruppe auseinandergerissen und Glenn von Maggie getrennt. Glenn gerät in eine Fehde mit Nicholas, der sogar versucht, ihn umzubringen.
Statt sich zu rächen, möchte Glenn ihm dabei helfen, ein besserer Mensch zu werden. Glenn gelingt es, sich unter dem Container zu verstecken und unversehrt nach Alexandria zurückzukehren.
In der sechsten Staffel sorgt sich Glenn mehr denn je um die schwangere Maggie und muss sie immerzu überreden, sich aus potenziell gefährlichen Aktionen der Gruppe herauszuhalten.
Er schaut sehr zu seinem Vater auf und steht hinter fast allen seiner Entscheidungen, selbst wenn diese vom Rest der Gruppe kritisiert werden.
Auch zu seiner Mutter hat Carl ein sehr gutes Verhältnis. Da er die Konflikte zwischen Lori, Shane und Rick nicht mitbekommt, sieht er in Shane ebenfalls eine wichtige Vertrauensperson.
Carl überrascht seine Eltern immer wieder mit seiner — für die gegenwärtige Situation — sehr nüchternen und realistischen Sicht der Dinge. Nach ihrer Vertreibung aus dem Gefängnis wird die Gruppe zwangsweise getrennt und Carl zieht gemeinsam mit seinem Vater weiter.
Später begegnen sie Michonne, zu der Carl eine Freundschaft aufbaut und die eine wichtige Vertrauensperson für ihn wird. In der vierten und fünften Staffel eilt er mehreren sich in Not befindenden Menschen zur Hilfe, wobei er auch einmal von Rick aufgehalten wird.
In der Kirche macht er Rick in einem Gespräch klar, dass sie in der Lage seien, anderen Menschen zu helfen.
In Alexandria fällt es Carl zunächst schwer, sich in den halbwegs wiedererlangten Alltag eines normalen Teenagers Herumhängen mit Freunden, Comics lesen und Videospiele spielen einzuordnen.
Er nimmt Alexandria als sein neues Zuhause an, hat aber dennoch Bedenken, dass das Leben dort die Gruppe schwächen könnte.
Ron gibt Rick und Carl hierfür die Schuld und zielt mit der Waffe auf die beiden. Michonne ersticht ihn daraufhin von hinten, wodurch sich ein Schuss löst und Carl in der Folge ein Auge verliert.
In der Krankenstation wird er von Denise notversorgt und überlebt seine Verletzung. Im Gegensatz zu seinem Vater ist er nicht bereit, sich Negan vollständig zu unterwerfen und verübt auf eigene Faust ein Attentat auf diesen, welches jedoch fehlschlägt.
In seinen letzten Momenten bittet er Rick, nicht alle Saviors zu töten, sondern friedlich mit ihnen zusammen zu leben.
Daryl ist der jüngere Bruder von Merle, der kurzzeitig auch ein Teil der Gruppe war. Er ist ein Überlebenskünstler und gut im Fährtenlesen.
Im starken Kontrast dazu zählen laute Motorräder zu Daryls Lieblingsfortbewegungsmittel in der Apokalypse. Daryl hat als Kind unter dem autoritären Erziehungsstil seines alkoholkranken Vaters sehr gelitten und fühlte sich von seinem älteren Bruder Merle im Stich gelassen, weil dieser oft wegen diverser Gefängnisaufenthalten nicht für ihn da gewesen ist.
Geprägt durch seine schwere Kindheit, macht Daryl sich als Erwachsener nicht mehr viel aus anderen Menschen und ist überwiegend auf sich selbst bedacht.
Das Leben in der Gruppe verändert ihn nachhaltig und er wird zunehmend zu einem wertvollen Mitglied der Gruppe. Er entwickelt freundschaftliche Gefühle gegenüber Carol, die ihm für seine Verbissenheit bei der Suche nach ihrer Tochter Sophia sehr dankbar ist.
In der dritten Staffel muss Daryl seinen Bruder Merle, der bei einem eigenmächtigen Versuch den Governor zu töten erschossen wird, von seinem Dasein als Zombie erlösen.
Gemeinsam ziehen sie durch die Umgebung und lernen einander erstmals näher kennen. Er kann sie in einem Krankenhaus ausfindig machen und fällt nach der gescheiterten Rettungsmission in eine Phase der Depression.
Daryl weigert sich zunächst, sich in Alexandria anzupassen. Gemeinsam treffen sie auf Morgan und bringen ihn nach Alexandria.
Daryl bringt den Vorschlag, im Austausch gegen Hilltops Vorräte, Negans übrige Männer zu töten, was von Maggie entsprechend ausgehandelt wird. Er versucht Dwight auf eigene Faust zu finden, um sich zu rächen.
Daryl sowie Glenn, Rosita und Michonne, die ihm folgen, werden daraufhin gefangen genommen und Daryl von Dwight angeschossen. Daraufhin wird Daryl von Negan gefangen gehalten und psychisch gefoltert um ihn zu rekrutieren.
Carol ist die Mutter von Sophia und Ehefrau von Ed. Da ihre Kinder ein ähnliches Alter haben, verbringt sie häufig Zeit mit Lori und ist auch fürsorglich gegenüber Carl.
Durch ihre Ehe mit ihrem patriarchalischen, gewalttätigen Machoehemann ist Carol vor und in den ersten Wochen nach der Apokalypse eine sehr unsichere und defensive Person, die kaum fähig ist, eigene Entscheidungen zu treffen.
In der zweiten Staffel verschwindet ihre Tochter spurlos. In dieser Zeit kommt sie Daryl näher, der sich wie kein anderer aus der Gruppe bemüht, Sophia lebend wiederzufinden.
In der dritten Staffel wird Carol nach dem Zombieangriff für tot gehalten, aber dann von Daryl lebend gefunden.
Sie unterrichtet in der dritten Staffel die Kinder der inzwischen stark gewachsenen Gemeinschaft. Dem sterbenden Ryan Samuels verspricht sie, auf dessen Töchter Lizzie und Mika so aufzupassen, als wären sie ihre eigenen.
Während der Quarantäne tötet sie die mit dem Grippevirus infizierten Karen und David, woraufhin sie nach Aufforderung von Rick die Gruppe verlassen muss.
Wenig später gesteht Carol Tyreese ihre Tat an Karen und er verzeiht ihr. Sie zieht mit Tyreese und Judith weiter nach Terminus, wo sie in einer spektakulären Rettungsaktion ihre Freunde aus den Fängen der Kannibalen befreit.
In Alexandria angekommen, verkauft sie sich als brave, harmlose Hausfrau, während sie sich mit Rick und Daryl hinterrücks verschwört und sie in den Besitz von Waffen bringt.
Sie bedroht Sam, der sie beim Waffenklau beobachtet hat, sowie dessen Vater Pete. Als Alexandria von den Wölfen angegriffen wird, lässt sie ihre Tarnung kurzfristig fallen, nur um eine neue als Wolf anzunehmen und so den Ort mit allen verfügbaren Mitteln zu beschützen.
Danach macht sich eine gewisse emotionale Instabilität bei Carol bemerkbar. Sie beginnt unter Morgans Einfluss damit, ihre Entscheidungen in Bezug auf Menschen, die eine Bedrohung für sie und ihre Mitmenschen darstellen, zu hinterfragen.
Nachdem sie erneut gezwungen ist, einige Männer Negans zu töten, wird sie von einem der Männer, der verletzt überlebt hat, verfolgt und mit mehreren Schüssen aus Rache gefoltert.
Zwei Männer, die offenbar zu einer bisher unbekannten Gruppe gehören, tauchen daraufhin auf und bieten den beiden ihre Hilfe an.
Anfangs gibt sie sich betont unabhängig und distanziert, nach einer Weile zeigt sie jedoch offen ihre Gefühle. Maggie hat eine starke Persönlichkeit mit einer rebellischen Ader und nimmt kein Blatt vor den Mund, wenn ihr etwas nicht passt.
Denkt sie zu Beginn noch genau wie Hershel, dass man Zombies heilen kann, wird ihr später klar, dass die mutierten Menschen verloren sind.
In der dritten Staffel ist sie ein wichtiges Mitglied der Gruppe geworden und gehört neben Carol zu den einzigen beiden Frauen, die den Männern dabei helfen, die Gemeinschaft vor Angriffen der Zombies und Menschen zu beschützen.
Sie wird gezwungen, dem Governor von dem Gefängnis zu erzählen, nachdem sie gemeinsam mit Glenn entführt und gefoltert worden ist.
Beide werden von Rick gerettet. Glenns Heiratsantrag nimmt Maggie glücklich an und die beiden sehen sich fortan als Ehepaar. Währenddessen gesteht Eugene, dass er gar keine Kenntnis über ein Heilmittel gegen die Seuche hat und sie kehren zu Ricks Gruppe zurück.
Nach dem Verlust ihrer Schwester Beth als einzige überlebende Blutsverwandte verliert Maggie zeitweise ihren Lebensmut. Maggie versucht, Deanna von der Wichtigkeit Ricks und seiner Gruppe für ihr Überleben zu überzeugen und engagiert sich für seinen Verbleib in Alexandria.
In der sechsten Staffel erfährt man, dass Maggie schwanger ist. Nachdem Alexandria von der Existenz einer anderen friedlichen Gemeinschaft Hilltop erfährt, reist sie dorthin mit, um in Ricks Auftrag mit Hilltops Anführer Gregory ein Tauschgeschäft um Lebensmittel auszuhandeln.
Gemeinsam mit Carol wird Maggie bei dem Überfall auf eine von Negans Unterkünften gefangen genommen und entführt. Die beiden entkommen, indem sie ihre Entführer töten.
Zwischen Maggie und Aaron entwickelt sich eine gute Freundschaft. Deshalb besteht Aaron darauf, sie gemeinsam mit Rick und den anderen zum Arzt nach Hilltop zu fahren, als Maggie plötzlich schwer krank wird.
Auf dem Weg gerät die Gruppe in einen Hinterhalt Negans und wird gefangen genommen. Sie hatte einen dreijährigen Sohn namens Andre, der zu Beginn der Apokalypse verstarb.
Zuvor nahm sie den beiden Zombies die Fähigkeit, ihr Schaden zuzufügen, indem sie ihnen mit ihrem Schwert die Arme abhackte und die Unterkiefer entfernte.
Damit wurde sie für andere Zombies quasi unsichtbar und war so vor deren Attacken geschützt. Michonne ist skeptisch gegenüber Fremden und geht den Dingen genau auf den Grund, bevor sie sich auf sie einlässt.
Gemeinsam mit Andrea gelangt sie in die Siedlung Woodbury, wo der Governor die Leitung übernommen hat. Michonne spürt instinktiv, dass an der Siedlung etwas nicht stimmt.
Als sie Woodbury verlässt, wird sie von Merle im Auftrag des Governors verfolgt und angeschossen. Sie wird Zeuge von Glenns und Maggies Entführung und begibt sich zum Gefängnis, um den dort Lebenden davon zu berichten.
Nachdem Carl sich für ihren Verbleib ausgesprochen hat, beginnt sie sich in Ricks Gruppe einzufügen und ist bereits zu Anfang der vierten Staffel ein gut integriertes Mitglied.
Aufgrund ihrer Kampferfahrung und ihrer ehrlichen Art, ist Michonne ein wertvolles und geschätztes Mitglied der Gemeinschaft.
Michonne wird gemeinsam mit Hershel vom Governor als Geisel genommen, als er erneut das Gefängnis übernehmen will.
Sie durchbohrt den Governor mit ihrem Schwert als dieser versucht Rick zu erwürgen und lässt Andreas und Hershels Mörder im Sterben liegend, mit der Aussicht sich zu verwandeln, zurück.
Dort wird sie zu Ricks Hilfspolizistin ernannt. Sie baut ein gutes Verhältnis zu Deanna auf und hofft, genau wie sie, auf eine Zukunft für Alexandria.
Michonne zeigt sich sehr betroffen über Deannas Schicksal, nachdem diese gebissen wird und in Jessies Haus allein zurückgelassen werden muss.
Ron, der Rick und Carl dafür die Schuld zuschreibt, richtet daraufhin seine Waffe gegen sie. Um Ron aufzuhalten, ersticht Michonne ihn von hinten mit ihrem Schwert.
Dabei löst sich dennoch ein Schuss aus seiner Waffe und bohrt sich durch Carls rechtes Auge. Während dieser von Denise verarztet wird, unterstützt Michonne Rick als erste im Kampf gegen die übrigen Zombies.
Wenig später werden Rick und Michonne ein Paar. Hershel ist ein alter Mann, der zusammen mit seinen Töchtern und einigen anderen Personen auf seiner Farm lebt, mit denen er am liebsten unter sich bleiben würde.
Als Carl jedoch von einem Mitglied seiner Gruppe, Otis, versehentlich angeschossen wird, rettet ihm Hershel durch eine Notoperation das Leben.

Shanes eindrucksvolle Demonstration der Unumkehrbarkeit des Zombiedaseins seiner mutierten Angehörigen bringt den streng religiösen Hershel wieder zur Vernunft, verleitet aber den trockenen Alkoholiker kurzzeitig dazu, mit dem Trinken wieder anzufangen.
In der dritten Staffel gehört Hershel zu den wenigen Personen, auf deren Rat und Zuspruch Rick vertraut und in seine Entscheidungen mit einbezieht.
Hershel wiederum zollt Rick seinen Respekt, indem er stets ehrlich zu ihm ist und mit ihm die eigenen Handlungen im Voraus bespricht.
Rick rettet Hershel auch das Leben, indem er ihm rechtzeitig den Unterschenkel amputiert, nachdem Hershel von einem Zombie gebissen wird.
Als Farmer besitzt Hershel wichtige Kenntnisse in Tierzucht und Ackerbau, was die Gruppe auch während ihres Aufenthalts im Gefängnis erfolgreich betreibt.
Hershel entwickelt väterliche Gefühle für Glenn und gesteht ihm dies. Als die tödliche Grippe ausbricht, hilft Hershel tatkräftig bei der Pflege und Heilung der Infizierten mit.
Zusammen mit Michonne wird er vom Governor entführt und als Druckmittel missbraucht, um einen Abzug von Ricks Gruppe aus dem Gefängnis zu erzwingen.
Als Rick auf den Erpressungsversuch seines Gegenspielers jedoch nicht eingeht, wird Hershel durch den Governor mit Michonnes Schwert geköpft.
Der ältere Bruder von Daryl ist ein Rassist, gewalttätig, aggressiv, drogenabhängig und gibt wenig auf die Meinung anderer.
Ebenso wie Daryl wurde Merle von seinem alkoholkranken Vater misshandelt. Direkt beim ersten Treffen gerät Merle in Konflikt mit Rick und wird von diesem auf dem Dach eines Hochhauses mit Handschellen festgekettet zurückgelassen.
Er sägt sich selbst die rechte Hand ab und verschwindet spurlos. Daryls und Merles Verhältnis ist nicht sehr herzlich, auch wenn die Brüder emotional doch sehr aneinander hängen.
Merle meint, er hätte alles getan, um einen Mann aus seinem Bruder zu machen und sei der einzige, der sich etwas aus ihm mache.
Daryl hingegen empfindet es so, dass Merle niemals für ihn da war. In der dritten Staffel ist er in der Siedlung Woodbury zu finden, die vom Governor geleitet wird.
Nach der Flucht gelingt es Merle nicht, sich in die Gruppe von Rick zu integrieren. Als er Michonne dem Governor ausliefern will, gesteht Merle ihr auf dem Weg zum Treffpunkt mit dem Governor, dass er die Morde, die er in dessen Auftrag begangen hat, bereut und lässt Michonne gehen.
Nachdem Merle zunächst einige Mitstreiter des Governors getötet hat, wird Merle von diesem durch einen Schuss in den Oberkörper getötet und nach seiner Verwandlung zum Zombie von Daryl gefunden und erlöst.
Bei dem Governor handelt es sich um den Anführer einer kleinen Siedlung namens Woodbury und den bislang gefährlichsten Antagonisten für Rick und seine Gruppe.

Andere Überlebende sind für ihn nur mögliche Quellen für benötigte Dinge, die er sich mit Gewalt aneignet. Er beginnt eine Beziehung mit Andrea, die zunächst keine Ahnung von seinem wahren Ich hat.
In einem Kampf mit Michonne sticht diese ihm sein rechtes Auge aus und beendet zudem das Zombiedasein seiner Tochter Penny.
Durch diese Ereignisse verliert der Governor noch mehr Menschlichkeit. Er nimmt, nachdem beide ihn verraten haben, seinen einst wichtigsten Mitstreitern Merle und Milton das Leben und verhindert dabei bewusst nicht ihre Verwandlung.
Für Andreas Verrat rächt er sich, indem er sie erst foltert und dann gefesselt mit dem vor der Verwandlung stehenden Milton zurücklässt. Nachdem Martinez und Shumpert den Governor alleine zurückgelassen haben, brennt der Governor Woodbury nieder und wandert daraufhin monatelang ohne Ziel durch die Gegend.
Als er seinen Lebenswillen völlig verloren zu haben scheint, sieht er durch das Fenster eines Hauses das Mädchen Meghan.
Als er mit seiner neuen Familie, zu der auch Lillys Schwester Tara gehört, vor den Ruinen von Woodbury Martinez begegnet, gibt er vor, sich Martinez in dessen neuem Camp unterordnen zu wollen.
Nachdem er Martinez und dessen Nachfolger getötet hat, übernimmt er die Führung des Camps und greift mit Michonne und Hershel als Geiseln das Gefängnis an.
Als Lilly mit der an einem Biss gestorbenen Meghan vor dem Gefängnis auftaucht, verhindert er die Verwandlung von Meghan und versucht daraufhin blind vor Wut das Gefängnis zu zerstören.
Beim Versuch Rick zu erwürgen wird er von Michonne mit deren Schwert durchbohrt und so zurückgelassen. Beth ist Hershels jüngere Tochter und Maggies kleine Halbschwester.
Da unter diesen auch ihre Mutter war, erleidet Beth daraufhin einen schweren Schock. Sie versucht sich umzubringen, begreift dabei aber, dass sie eigentlich weiterleben will.
Sie freundet sich in der dritten Staffel mit Carl an. Beth ist sehr sanftmütig und verfügt anfangs weder über Kampferfahrung noch den nötigen Umgang mit Waffen, um sich vor den Gefahren der apokalyptischen Welt verteidigen zu können.
Nach Loris Tod ist sie diejenige, die sich überwiegend um deren neugeborene Tochter Judith kümmert. Daneben engagiert sie sich beim Töten von Streunern am Gefängniszaun und lernt den Umgang mit Schusswaffen.
In der vierten Staffel muss sie hilflos zusehen, wie der Governor ihren Vater tötet. Nach der Zerstörung des Gefängnisses flieht sie mit Daryl und freundet sich nach anfänglichen Streitigkeiten mit ihm an.
Im Laufe der fünften Staffel zeigt sich, dass sie in dem Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta festgehalten wird und dort gezwungen ist, als Pflegerin zu arbeiten.

Er hat hohe moralische Wertvorstellungen, an die er sich stets zu halten versucht. Obwohl er ein guter Nahkämpfer ist und notgedrungen Zombies tötet, verabscheut er die Gewalt und ist des permanenten Überlebenskampfes müde.
Nachdem seine Gruppe von einem wegen seiner Halluzinationen nicht mehr zurechnungsfähigen Rick aus dem Gefängnis vertrieben wird, erreicht Tyreese mit seinen Leuten Woodbury und erzählt dort dem Governor von seinem Aufenthalt im Gefängnis.

Als das Gefängnis erneut vom Governor angegriffen und von Zombies überrannt wird, retten die Mädchen Mika und Lizzie ihn vor Angreifern.
Daraufhin schlägt er sich allein mit einem Baby sowie Lizzie und Mika durch die Wälder, bis er von Carol gefunden und fortan begleitet wird.
Auf ihrer Reise sieht sich Carol gezwungen, Lizzie zum Wohle der Gruppe zu töten, nachdem das Mädchen die eigene Schwester ermordet hat.

After the death of Henry, his relationship with Carol falls apart and they both separate. Simon also known as Lead Savior in his first appearance , portrayed by Steven Ogg , [38] is a high-ranking member of the Saviors who serves as Negan's right-hand man.
He is shown to be an articulate, brutal, ruthless, and unpredictable man with a sadistic and unnerving sense of humor, and considered even by Negan too violent and "psychotic".
Simon also has displayed extreme loyalty to his leader and, as such, is highly valued and trusted by Negan.
Like Negan, Simon is not beyond using fear and intimidation to achieve his goals while also being a remorseless, cold-blooded mass murderer and not at all bothered by the excessive violence that the Saviors employ.
However, his loyalty to Negan lessens as the war against the Militia progresses. During the course of the war, Simon becomes deranged, has differences with Negan, endangers the Sanctuary during an attack on the Hilltop Colony, desires to take control of the Saviors and, towards the end of the war, secretly attempts to kill Negan with a small group; however, Negan discovers his plan.
Despite this and his backstabbing, Negan offers Simon a chance of leadership of the Saviors by fighting to the death; Simon accepts.
Simon initially gets the upper hand before Negan eventually overpowers him. Negan then brutally strangles Simon to death, all the while furiously berating his right-hand man for ruining what chance they had left of making peace with Rick and the rest of the communities.
Afterwards, Negan gives one final squeeze that crushes Simon's windpipe , killing him instantly.
Following Simon's death, he reanimates as a walker and chained to the Sanctuary fence; possibly some Savior ended his misery.
She is first introduced to Carl sitting on a bed with a book while Ron and Mikey show Carl their video games.
She eventually develops a close bond with Carl. After the events with the Saviors, Enid moved to the Hilltop Colony to join Sasha and help Maggie during her pregnancy, and starts a loving relationship with Carl.
After the war against the Saviors, she is devastated after the death of Carl and becomes Siddiq's apprentice in medical practices.
After the alleged death of Rick, she became the Hilltop doctor and later enters into a relationship with Alden. However, she is killed by Alpha and her decapitated head is put on a spike.
Jadis also known as " Anne " , [40] portrayed by Pollyanna McIntosh , is the oddly-spoken and enigmatic leader of the Scavengers who formed alliances with Negan and in the war maintained a neutral position with her group.
After the war against the Saviors, she moved to the Alexandria Safe-Zone and had a brief romance with Gabriel.
After finding a wounded Rick following the destruction of the bridge , she redeems herself completely by convincing the helicopter pilot to help her to save him; together they both go to an unknown place to start a new journey.
Alden , portrayed by Callan McAuliffe , [41] is a member of the Saviors who watches over the satellite outpost.
When Jesus and the Militia take his group by surprise, he surrenders along with the rest of his group. Eventually, seeing the courage of the Hilltop Colony, he and other Saviors decide to join the ranks of Maggie.
During the war against Negan and the Saviors, he gains Maggie's respect and decides to start a fresh new life at the Hilltop.
Months after Negan's defeat, Alden has become a close member of Maggie's leadership group within the Hilltop. Six years after Rick's supposed death at the destruction of the bridge, he is working as a blacksmith at the Hilltop while in a relationship with Enid.
At the end of " Adaptation ", Alden is captured by Alpha along with Luke. However, they are returned in exchange for Lydia in the following episode.
Siddiq , portrayed by Avi Nash , [41] is a lone survivor skilled in medical practices who debuts in " Mercy ". He is first seen surrendering to Carl and tells him that he has not eaten in a few days.
When Carl suddenly points a gun at Siddiq, he tries to calm Carl down, but Rick then arrives and fires a few warning shots , which makes Siddiq run away.
Later, Carl returns and leaves two cans of food with a note saying: "Sorry". Siddiq watches Carl from the bushes as he walks away. Eventually, Siddiq is willing to accept Carl's help and the two head back to the Alexandria Safe-Zone; however, Carl is bitten by a walker.
As Carl is dying, Siddiq promises to honor Carl's legacy by doing for others what Carl did for him. Six years after Rick's supposed death at the destruction of the bridge, he is the lead doctor for Alexandria and has taken Enid as his apprentice.
He is a member of the Alexandria Council and seems to be one of the few people who still has a positive relationship with Michonne, often advising her on matters.
Later, Siddiq is revealed to be the father of Rosita's baby, conceived after a brief fling. He is the sole survivor of those kidnapped by Alpha during the fair, and his memories of what he witnessed tortured him, until he was eventually killed by Dante upon realizing he is a Whisperer spy.
Alpha , portrayed by Samantha Morton , [42] is the leader of the Whisperers, a mysterious group of hostile survivors who disguise themselves with the skin of the undead in order to blend in with them and not get noticed, and the main antagonist of the second half of season nine and the whole of season ten.
She is shown to be a cold, cunning, egocentric, psychopathic, sadistic, and highly intelligent woman who is a hardened, determined survivor and a strong leader to those in her group, appearing to enjoy being in a position of authority and does not take kindly to anyone who opposes her.
Alpha first appears at the end of " Adaptation ", aiming Alden and Luke with a sawed-off shotgun. In " Omega ", Alpha's dark past is revealed in flashbacks; it is shown that she killed her husband Frank and their group of survivors during the initial stages of the outbreak, considering them as "weak people".
At the end of the episode, she appears unmasked at the Hilltop Colony with some members of her group, asking the community to return back her daughter Lydia.
The beheaded members' heads are then placed on spikes, marking the boundary of a new border. Alpha does this in order to warn the communities not to cross into the Whisperers' territory.
Alpha later escalates the conflict into an all-out war after Lydia rejects her completely, forming a relationship with Negan in the process.
However, after capturing Lydia, Negan lures Alpha into a trap and slits her throat. Negan subsequently delivers Alpha's reanimated head to Carol, who he had been working with, as Carol had been obsessed with killing Alpha in revenge for the murder of her adopted son Henry.
Shortly after, Beta finds the head, and furiously grabs one of his men and feeds part the Whisperer's face to Alpha's reanimated head; Beta takes the head with him inside a bag.
Then, inside an abandoned building, Beta puts down Alpha, and skins half of her face and attaches it to himself to wear as the new right side of his own mask, declaring himself the new leader of the Whisperers.
Beta , portrayed by Ryan Hurst , [43] is the second-in-command of the Whisperers and Alpha's right-hand man. He serves as the secondary antagonist of the second half of the ninth season.
Beta has a huge and corpulent stature. He is shown to be an aggressive, brutal, cunning, and highly analytical man who is devoted to the Whisperer way of life.
Beta is also completely loyal to Alpha, following her orders without question and respecting her decisions completely.
Due to his large size and strength, Beta is a very dangerous opponent, capable of using excessive force to protect his group and also a skilled fighter.
He is also shown to be quite capable of cold-blooded murder, and appears to be a highly skilled tracker and strategic thinker as well which makes him a vital member of the Whisperers.
Beta is also more than willing to harm any Whisperer who poses a threat to Alpha and to keep the others in line.
He first appears in " Guardians " where he captures Henry. In " Chokepoint ", Daryl has a one-on-one fight with Beta, which ends with Daryl pushing Beta into an open elevator shaft; however, Beta survives and finds a way out.
In " Look at the Flowers " Beta discovers Alpha's decapitated head on a spike. In response, a furious Beta ends one of his men and puts the head inside a bag.
Carrying the bag, he goes inside an abandoned building. There, his past identity as a famous country music singer is revealed; he plays one of his own records at high volume, luring walkers to his location.
He then puts down Alpha, and skins half of her face and attaches it to himself to wear as the new right side of his own mask, declaring himself the new leader of the Whisperers.
Beta soon departs and leads the horde of walkers to Alexandria safe-zone. In " A Certain Doom " when Beta discovers the group's hiding place, it decides to attack with the Whisperers using gigantic walker hordes, the group manages to evade and send the hordes to the detour but Beta sends her Whisperers who manage to overwhelm them, when Beta achieves her objective begins to attack and the First, who is attacked is Negan, when he dominates Negan, he takes out his blades to kill him, but Daryl appears and saves Negan from certain death by plunging his own blades into his eyes, when the walkers realize his human presence, this it is surrounded and devoured by walkers.
Yumiko , portrayed by Eleanor Matsuura , [44] is a member of Magna's group, former criminal defense lawyer , and Magna's girlfriend.
She was wounded on the road when a horde of walkers surrounded them, but shortly recovered after. She and the rest of her group began living at the Hilltop Colony just prior to the Whisperers' arrival.
Since the deaths of both Jesus and Tara, Yumiko has taken on a leadership role at the Hilltop, something Magna doesn't fully support. Jerry , portrayed by Cooper Andrews , [45] is a member of the Kingdom and Ezekiel's steward, it is shown that Jerry is a man of enormous size but is charismatic, cheerful and kind to people, Jerry is also described as a good loyal friend and he showed this during the war against Negan when a savior was about to execute Ezekiel Jerry saved him from certain death, even though Ezekiel asked him to run Jerry refused to leave him and witnessed seeing Shiva's sacrifice which showed Jerry not only to be a right-hand but also a great friend not only for Ezekiel if not also with Carol and the group, after the war against the saviors.
Following the two timeskips , Jerry has begun a relationship with Nabila and has three children with her. Magna , portrayed by Nadia Hilker , [46] is the leader of a small group of roaming survivors and Yumiko's girlfriend.
She and her people first appear in " What Comes After ", fighting against a walking horde that were overwhelming them and are shortly after rescued by Judith Grimes.
Magna and her companions are then brought to the Alexandria Safe-Zone, before eventually moving to reside in the Hilltop Colony.
In " Who Are You Now? Though she considers attacking Michonne, who is untrusting of her, she relents after seeing Michonne's family and instead turns over her last knife.
In " Squeeze ", Magna and Connie become trapped in a walker-filled cave leaving their fates unknown. However, in " Walk with Us ", Magna is revealed to have survived and escaped, but Connie's fate remains unknown as Magna got separated from her in the horde.
Judith Grimes , portrayed by Cailey Fleming , [47] is Lori's daughter and Carl's half-sister who was born in the third season episode " Killer Within ".
Maggie delivers her via a crude C-section , using Carl's knife; Lori dies during childbirth. Daryl nicknames the baby "Lil' Asskicker" and Rick allows Carl to name her after his third grade teacher, Judith Mueller.
Judith's fate is seemingly unknown following The Governor's final assault on the prison. Rick and Carl find Judith's empty car seat, stained heavily with blood, and presume her to be dead.
However, it is revealed that Tyreese had rescued Judith before escaping from the prison with Lizzie and Mika; the three are walking through a forest, with Tyreese holding Judith in his arms, before they reunite with Carol.
During the year and a half that passed since the end of the war, Judith has been raised by Rick and Michonne where the three live as a happy family in a rebuilt and thriving Alexandria Safe-Zone.
Six years later, Magna's group take on a herd of walkers. They quickly get overwhelmed, but are saved when the walkers around them get shot from the trees.
Magna and her group escape into the woods to find an older Judith, around nine-years-old, armed with Rick's revolver and a katana. They introduce themselves and ask what her name is; she picks up her hat and introduces herself as Judith Grimes.
Judith later argues with Michonne to allow Magna's group to stay and also shown to have befriended Negan out of pity for his situation.
When Negan escapes, Judith lets him go and then escorts him back to Alexandria after she finds him on the road. It is Judith who ultimately convinces Michonne to reconnect Alexandria with the other communities.
According to Negan, Judith is just as much of a badass as Carl was and can tell when someone is lying to her, leading to Negan treating Judith with a great deal of respect and being honest with her during his stories of her family and friends.
After 23 days of the initial outbreak, Lydia and her parents remained in a moldy basement with a group of survivors. Lydia used to be naive about the state of the world and always spent time with her father, since her mother is a very cold person.
After the death of her father, Lydia begins to have a nefarious treatment on the part of her mother. In " Adaptation ", after being captured by Daryl and Michonne, and kept as a prisoner in a cell at the Hilltop Colony, Lydia begins to form a bond with Henry.
Eventually, Lydia falls in love with Henry and begins a relationship with him, ultimately rejecting the Whisperers in favor of the other communities who agree to grant Lydia asylum.
However, her relationship with Henry is cut short when he, alongside nine others, is brutally murdered by her mother. She then lives in the Kingdom with Daryl before its fall and moves into the Alexandria Safe-Zone, displaying some suicidal tendencies out of guilt.
Several months after the fair massacre, Lydia continues living with Daryl in Alexandria, but struggles to fit in with many people being angry and untrusting of her.
In addition, she has adopted Henry's staff and chosen form of aikido that Henry had learned from Morgan. When a small group attempts to attack and kill her, Negan is the only one to step in and save Lydia, though it causes trouble when he accidentally kills one of them in the process.
Eventually, when Carol learns that Alpha has lied to her people about killing Lydia, Carol tries to use Lydia to turn them against Alpha.
After encountering Gamma and seeing her reaction to Lydia's well-being, Lydia immediately realizes what Carol has done and runs away, refusing to be used by someone again.
In " Stalker ", Lydia returns to rescue Daryl, who is succumbing to his wounds inside an abandoned gas station after a one-on-one brutal fight with Alpha; her mother succumbs to her own wounds as well.
Recognizing that while the people in the communities aren't perfect, they are Lydia's best chance of living a normal life. However, she is unable to kill her mother, who requested Lydia to kill her; she departs with Daryl and nurses him back to health.
Disowning her mother permanently causes Alpha to press the conflict into full-out war. Connie , portrayed by Lauren Ridloff , [49] is a deaf member of Magna's group.
After moving to the Hilltop Colony, she not only saves a baby that the Whisperers have left behind to be eaten by walkers, but helps Daryl in rescuing Henry and Lydia from the Whisperers, traveling with them until they escorted the two back to the Kingdom.
Months later, these events have bonded Connie and Daryl, who now share a very close friendship with Carol even indicating to Daryl that she sees something other than friendship between him and Connie; however, Daryl tells Carol that his relationship with Connie is not at all like that.
It is led by the opaque leadership of Shane until Rick's arrival. Under Rick's more balanced leadership, most of the survivors want to live peacefully away from the walkers except for Ed and Shane who cause problems, but with the course of history the majority of the group dies while others depart the group.
The Greene Family Farm , first appearing in " Bloodletting ", is led by patriarch Hershel Greene, with whom he lives with his daughters Maggie and Beth, his foreman Otis, his wife Patricia, and Jimmy, Beth's boyfriend, who is tutored by Hershel.
At the beginning, he had many problems with Rick about the walkers and ignored what was happening in the outside world, but eventually Hershel and Rick formed a great friendship by becoming advisors to one another.
The Living , first appearing in " Nebraska ", is a hostile group of bandits and manipulators who are heavily armed with automatic weaponry. Few members of the group appeared on screen, except for the scouting members that encountered Rick's group.
They are the first antagonistic group encountered in the series and the only one with an unknown status. Five inmates in the prison survived the outbreak, locked up in the canteen for ten months in the West Georgia Correctional Facility.
Until released from the canteen by Rick's group, they were unaware of the walker plague that wiped out a large percentage of the population. Rick tells them they can live in a separate cell block.
Although two of them ultimately join Rick's group, they all eventually die. Woodbury , first appearing in " Walk with Me ", is a town in Georgia of which a few streets have been walled off to keep the town operating.
It is led by Philip Blake, who has adopted the nickname "The Governor" from the townspeople. Woodbury had a population of close to eighty people at the time of Andrea and Michonne's arrival, but due to various factors such as the prison group's attack on the town and The Governor's slaughter of nearly his entire army , the population dwindles dramatically throughout the third season.
Robert Kirkman later confirmed that any and all Woodbury characters, who were not brought to the prison are deceased. The remaining population of Woodbury at the prison community dwindles further throughout the fourth season as a result of the spreading of the flu.
As of " Inmates ", nearly every resident of Woodbury is confirmed to be deceased, as the bus is apparently overwhelmed and everyone on board becomes zombified and later put down by Maggie, Bob, and Sasha.
It has been confirmed that any other Woodbury resident except Jeanette not seen dying either on the bus or at the prison is deceased nonetheless.
Thus, the entire population of Woodbury is confirmed to be dead. After The Governor executes most of the able-bodied Woodbury residents, who had been members of his militia , only the children and elderly townspeople remain at Woodbury under the watchful eye of Tyreese and Sasha.
After Andrea's suicide due to being bitten, Rick and his group return to the prison with the remaining Woodbury survivors including Tyreese, Sasha, Eryn, Jeanette, Karen, and Ms.
McLeod , swelling the prison's population from the original ten to around thirty. Six to seven months afterwards, numerous other survivors have joined the prison community, from various locations and backgrounds.
The compound is initially peaceful and thriving until an influenza epidemic spreads throughout the community and infects numerous residents, killing many of those stricken.
However, the issue is resolved after a scouting group returns with medicine. Shortly afterwards, The Governor returns with a new militia and executes the captive Hershel, igniting a firefight between the two groups.
This battle leads to the fall of the prison community after The Governor tears down the fences. As a result of the flu and The Governor's assault, the numbers dwindle significantly.
The escaping newcomers are found dead on the public transport bus for the prison, while five other newcomers remain alive. Lizzie and Mika are later killed, as well as Bob, and eventually Tyreese.
Sasha is the last prison newcomer to hold out, but she eventually dies after taking a suicide pill given to her by Eugene. She eventually becomes a walker, and attacks Negan and his men.
Afterwards, Sasha is put down by Maggie. After wandering on his own for six to seven months alone, following the fall of Woodbury and defections of Martinez and Shumpert, The Governor encounters the Chambler Family holed up in their apartment building.
The surviving Chamblers later set off with The Governor who has said his name is "Brian Hariot" to seek shelter elsewhere following the death of David, but The Governor's actions lead to Lilly and Meghan's deaths.
Martinez's Camp , also known as the River Camp , first appearing in " Dead Weight ", is a campsite located within rural Georgia on an open field, containing over thirty survivors.
It is led by Caesar Martinez until being briefly succeeded by Pete Dolgen and then by a brainwashed Governor, who causes their downfall.
The group consists veteran soldiers , former members of the National Guard , and civilians. Overall, they are a self-taught militia who try to survive at all costs.
After The Governor secretly kills Caesar and Pete, he gives a speech to the majority of the camp survivors about the prison and its inhabitants, persuading them to force the prison community residents to give up the prison.
However, all members except Tara of The Governor's newly formed militia are killed by the prison defenders and swarming walkers.
The Claimers , first appearing in " Claimed ", is a dangerous group of heavily armed men who raid homes in order to search for supplies and weapons.
Over time however, the group gradually descends into a sinister lifestyle where they eventually became a group of marauders.
They begin to commit numerous horrific actions which include murdering innocent survivors, savagely raping several women, and sadistically hunting their victims.
Terminus is a sanctuary that is first mentioned in the second half of the fourth season over a radio broadcast heard by Daryl, Michonne, Tyreese, and Bob while driving in Zach's car.
After the fall of the prison, the small factions of prison residents, who survive the assault find the signs directing survivors towards Terminus, and each group slowly begins to make its way there.
The exact location of Terminus is finally revealed in " Us ", where it appears to be a relatively vibrant, well-secured settlement, but in actuality hides a dark and brutal secret.
It is later confirmed that Terminus is indeed a cannibalistic group, where they kill and then carve up any new arrivals that refuse to join them or prove to be a threat.
After Terminus is destroyed by Carol's siege in " No Sanctuary ", only six residents survive and escape, becoming known as The Hunters. After Carol destroys Terminus, Gareth and his people begin to hunt for Rick's group in order to take revenge, now known as The Hunters.
Grady Memorial Hospital , first appearing in " Slabtown ", is revealed to be the home of a sheltered group of survivors, who believe that military assistance will eventually come to them after a certain period of time.
The hospital is run under a strict authoritarian regime by a group of corrupt police officers. The Alexandria Safe-Zone , first appearing in " The Distance ", is a suburban community protected by large walls, located near Alexandria, Virginia.
It is a self-powered community with solar panels to help power the homes and water system. When Rick's group is invited to join Alexandria, they find that the Alexandrians are defenseless, weak, and have sheltered themselves from the real world outside their gates without knowing the brutality that surrounds it, leading to a strife between the two groups.
The Wolves , first appearing in " Conquer ", is a group of deranged people who destroy camps and shelters, killing everyone.
They are marked with a " W " with blood on their foreheads—the sign of a wolf. They steal the belongings of their victims, often dismembering their bodies, and cutting the " W " sign onto these victims' foreheads with knives.
They usually leave their victims to become walkers. The Hilltop Colony , first appearing in " Knots Untie ", is a group of survivors that have fortified the area around a large mansion atop a hill near the Alexandria Safe-Zone.
The Sanctuary , first appearing in " The Cell ", is a community of a gargantuan group founded with the goal of restoring civilization to the world.
They are ruled by their charismatic authoritarian leader Negan, who is also a merciless and totalitarian dictator.
Some that reside are civilians that work for the community, but in majority is conformed by strong people called " The Saviors ", who have a reputation of being ruthless and uncompromising, and plunder people on the road.
They enact a brutal regime to terrorize and subjugate any and all nearby survivor communities they come across in the area surrounding Washington, D.
The central headquarters for the group is an abandoned factory, after Negan took the place from its apparently incapable leader.
After a brief war with the Militia and Negan's eventual defeat, the Saviors and the Militia declare peace. The community was home to close to members, both soldiers and workers, as well as families and children living in the Sanctuary, though their numbers were greatly diminished during the course of the war.
Six years after Rick's supposed death at the destruction of the bridge, the remaining Saviors have disbanded following the Sanctuary going "bust".
Most went on to join the communities they once oppressed while a handful joined a group of rough raiders led by Jed before its destruction.
Over time, the community is subjugated by the Saviors until the arrival of Rick, who manages to convince Ezekiel to fight for their freedom.
Oceanside , first appearing in " Swear ", is a community grounded in Virginia that has situated in a pre-apocalypse campground, near a small beach; with the arrival of Tara Chambler, things gradually changed for the community.
Sometime after the outbreak, Natania's community encountered Simon and his group, and they were forced to work under their tyranny.
Unwilling to be subservient, the community fought back but were defeated in the ensuing skirmish, and many people were killed, including most of Natania's family.
After the battle, Simon and his men rounded up all remaining male survivors over the age of 10 and executed them, as retribution and a terrorizing deterrent to any further resistances; this was done by Simon before his group joined Negan and the Saviors.
Faced with a future of being enslaved by Simon or dying, the remaining women and children fled their settlement, found the Oceanside campground, and re-established their community there where Natania led them to cowardice, hidden from Simon and his group.
They adopted a policy to kill anyone who discovers their community on sight in order to protect themselves and to prevent any clues about them leaked to them.
After Enid accidentally shoots and kills Natania, Cyndie becomes the leader of the community and decides to join the Militia in order to defeat Negan and the Saviors.
Six years after Rick's supposed death at the destruction of the bridge, Oceanside becomes one of the four joint communities of the Militia and later on the Coalition, along with the Alexandria Safe-Zone, the Hilltop Colony and the Kingdom.
The Scavengers , commonly referred to as the " Garbage People ", first appearing in " Rock in the Road ", is a large group of odd individuals who live in a junkyard and are led by a cunning woman named Anne calling herself "Jadis".
On their way to find Gabriel, Rick and a few other members of his group run into the Scavengers, who takes them into the Junkyard.
There, Rick strikes a deal with Jadis, with him agreeing to provide the Scavengers with weapons and supplies in exchange for their help fighting the Saviors.
At some point after this however, Jadis and her people secretly make a deal with Negan and the Saviors, and inform Negan of Rick's plan to initiate a war against him.
However, during the war the Scavengers are revealed to be collaborating with Rick in the war by revealing a neutral stance, the entire community except Jadis is annihilated by Simon and a Savior patrol.
Afterwards, Jadis lures the zombified Scavengers up a hill to a metal grinder which she activates. One by one, the zombified Scavengers walk into the machine and are completely pulped, leaving Jaids the only survivor.
Magna's Group , first appearing in " What Comes After ", is a small group of survivors barely getting by before encountering Judith Grimes.
This group camouflages with the skins of walkers, aiming to live among them without being attacked. They use the undead as weapons to stun people, and usually attack with sharp weapons and are more bloodthirsty and aggressive than the Saviors.
The Whisperers serve as antagonists for the second half of the ninth season and whole of the tenth season. The Highwaymen , first appearing in " Chokepoint ", is a group of bandit survivors very similar to the Saviors who wanted to extort the Kingdom.
When confronted by Ezekiel and Carol, they decide to move to the ranks of the Kingdom. Prior to the outbreak, the island was used as a naval base , with the U.
Navy stockpiling large amounts of heavy weaponry on it. The base was presumably abandoned by the Navy either during or sometime after the outbreak. At some point, it was settled by Virgil and his family.
However, after his family's death, Virgil began to lose his mind and began imprisoning the other residents. However, several of the prisoners died, leaving only four people left including Virgil.
The Survivor Caravan , first appearing in " What We Become ", is a massive group of nomadic survivors traveling throughout the Northern United States to an unknown destination.
Upon her arrival to New Jersey , Michonne and two other survivors make their way towards the convoy. The Walking Dead comic book and television series , based on it, are regarded as separate continuities.

Aus Frust darüber, ist Andrea fortan permanent von Dales fürsorglichem Verhalten und Bevormundung ihr gegenüber genervt, was sie ihm auch deutlich zu verstehen gibt.
Sie ist die einzige aus der Gruppe, die Shanes Sichtweise der Dinge teilt und ihn in seinen Handlungen bestärkt. Sie freundet sich mit ihm an und schlägt sogar vor, die Gruppe gemeinsam zu verlassen, was Shane jedoch ablehnt.
Andrea hat eine starke Persönlichkeit, sagt immer ehrlich ihre Meinung und vertritt diese auch selbstsicher.
Als die Farm gegen Ende der zweiten Staffel von Zombies überrannt wird, wird sie von den anderen getrennt und kämpft sich alleine durch den Wald.
Ihre Gefühle für den Governor trüben ihr Urteilsvermögen gegenüber seinen Handlungen und sie lässt sich lange von ihm blenden. Sie versucht, nach einem Plan von Carol, den Governor zu ermorden, schafft es jedoch nicht, weil ihre Gefühle sie davon abhalten.
Als Milton ihr erzählt, dass der Governor Michonne foltern und alle aus Ricks Gruppe töten will, versucht sie zum Gefängnis zu fliehen.
Dabei wird sie vom Governor abgefangen und in die eigentlich für Michonne vorgesehene Folterkammer gebracht.
Er entwickelt Andrea und deren Schwester Amy gegenüber väterliche Gefühle. Er fährt das Wohnmobil, von dessen Dach aus oft Wache gehalten wird und das zu Anfang den Hauptaufenthaltsraum der Gruppe darstellt.
Dale ist der Ruhepol der Gruppe. Dale versucht immer ruhig und überlegt zu handeln und ist darauf bedacht, die Stimmung in der Gruppe nicht ins Negative umschlagen zu lassen.
Dies macht sich bemerkbar, indem er oft das Gespräch sucht, wenn er Probleme sieht. Durch diese Eigenschaft ist Dale für gewöhnlich einer der ersten, der über Neuigkeiten informiert ist.
Allerdings ist er gerade Shane gegenüber sehr skeptisch und sieht in ihm oftmals eine Gefahr für den Rest der Gruppe, da er glaubt, Shane habe sich nicht immer selbst unter Kontrolle und würde auch im Zweifel über Leichen gehen.
Er gerät zunehmend in Streit mit Shane und sagt ihm auch einmal offen ins Gesicht, was er von ihm hält.
Allerdings wird er von Shane stark eingeschüchtert. Dale empfindet für Andrea mehr, als er durch sie erwidert bekommt.
Glenn ist ein junger Amerikaner koreanischer Herkunft. Vor der Zombie-Apokalypse war er als Pizzalieferant in Atlanta tätig und kennt sich demnach sehr gut in der Stadt aus.
Deswegen agiert er freiwillig als Besorger von Vorräten für die Gruppe und geht am liebsten allein auf Beutezüge, weil er dann nur auf sich selbst aufpassen muss.
Glenn ist der erste der Gruppe, der mit Rick in Kontakt kommt. Glenn besitzt hohe moralische Vorstellungen und ist immer bereit, Verantwortung für sich und andere zu übernehmen.
Er beweist immer wieder Mut und Loyalität gegenüber seinen Freunden und verliert diese Prinzipien über die Zeit nicht. Glenn ist oftmals die Stimme der Vernunft, wenn es darum geht, die Gruppe vor den Auswirkungen schlecht überlegter Entscheidungen zu bewahren.
Auf Hershels Farm verliebt er sich in dessen Tochter Maggie und die beiden kommen recht schnell zusammen. Im Gefängnis macht er ihr einen Heiratsantrag, den sie annimmt und die beiden begreifen sich von da an als Ehepaar.
Als im Gefängnis eine tödliche Grippe ausbricht, wird Glenn ebenfalls infiziert und überlebt nur knapp die Krankheit.
Während der letzten Schlacht um das Gefängnis wird die Gruppe auseinandergerissen und Glenn von Maggie getrennt. Glenn gerät in eine Fehde mit Nicholas, der sogar versucht, ihn umzubringen.
Statt sich zu rächen, möchte Glenn ihm dabei helfen, ein besserer Mensch zu werden. Glenn gelingt es, sich unter dem Container zu verstecken und unversehrt nach Alexandria zurückzukehren.
In der sechsten Staffel sorgt sich Glenn mehr denn je um die schwangere Maggie und muss sie immerzu überreden, sich aus potenziell gefährlichen Aktionen der Gruppe herauszuhalten.
Er schaut sehr zu seinem Vater auf und steht hinter fast allen seiner Entscheidungen, selbst wenn diese vom Rest der Gruppe kritisiert werden.
Auch zu seiner Mutter hat Carl ein sehr gutes Verhältnis. Da er die Konflikte zwischen Lori, Shane und Rick nicht mitbekommt, sieht er in Shane ebenfalls eine wichtige Vertrauensperson.
Carl überrascht seine Eltern immer wieder mit seiner — für die gegenwärtige Situation — sehr nüchternen und realistischen Sicht der Dinge.
Nach ihrer Vertreibung aus dem Gefängnis wird die Gruppe zwangsweise getrennt und Carl zieht gemeinsam mit seinem Vater weiter. Später begegnen sie Michonne, zu der Carl eine Freundschaft aufbaut und die eine wichtige Vertrauensperson für ihn wird.
In der vierten und fünften Staffel eilt er mehreren sich in Not befindenden Menschen zur Hilfe, wobei er auch einmal von Rick aufgehalten wird.
In der Kirche macht er Rick in einem Gespräch klar, dass sie in der Lage seien, anderen Menschen zu helfen.
In Alexandria fällt es Carl zunächst schwer, sich in den halbwegs wiedererlangten Alltag eines normalen Teenagers Herumhängen mit Freunden, Comics lesen und Videospiele spielen einzuordnen.
Er nimmt Alexandria als sein neues Zuhause an, hat aber dennoch Bedenken, dass das Leben dort die Gruppe schwächen könnte. Ron gibt Rick und Carl hierfür die Schuld und zielt mit der Waffe auf die beiden.
Michonne ersticht ihn daraufhin von hinten, wodurch sich ein Schuss löst und Carl in der Folge ein Auge verliert.
In der Krankenstation wird er von Denise notversorgt und überlebt seine Verletzung. Im Gegensatz zu seinem Vater ist er nicht bereit, sich Negan vollständig zu unterwerfen und verübt auf eigene Faust ein Attentat auf diesen, welches jedoch fehlschlägt.
In seinen letzten Momenten bittet er Rick, nicht alle Saviors zu töten, sondern friedlich mit ihnen zusammen zu leben.
Daryl ist der jüngere Bruder von Merle, der kurzzeitig auch ein Teil der Gruppe war. Er ist ein Überlebenskünstler und gut im Fährtenlesen.
Im starken Kontrast dazu zählen laute Motorräder zu Daryls Lieblingsfortbewegungsmittel in der Apokalypse.
Daryl hat als Kind unter dem autoritären Erziehungsstil seines alkoholkranken Vaters sehr gelitten und fühlte sich von seinem älteren Bruder Merle im Stich gelassen, weil dieser oft wegen diverser Gefängnisaufenthalten nicht für ihn da gewesen ist.
Geprägt durch seine schwere Kindheit, macht Daryl sich als Erwachsener nicht mehr viel aus anderen Menschen und ist überwiegend auf sich selbst bedacht.
Das Leben in der Gruppe verändert ihn nachhaltig und er wird zunehmend zu einem wertvollen Mitglied der Gruppe. Er entwickelt freundschaftliche Gefühle gegenüber Carol, die ihm für seine Verbissenheit bei der Suche nach ihrer Tochter Sophia sehr dankbar ist.
In der dritten Staffel muss Daryl seinen Bruder Merle, der bei einem eigenmächtigen Versuch den Governor zu töten erschossen wird, von seinem Dasein als Zombie erlösen.
Gemeinsam ziehen sie durch die Umgebung und lernen einander erstmals näher kennen. Er kann sie in einem Krankenhaus ausfindig machen und fällt nach der gescheiterten Rettungsmission in eine Phase der Depression.
Daryl weigert sich zunächst, sich in Alexandria anzupassen. Gemeinsam treffen sie auf Morgan und bringen ihn nach Alexandria. Daryl bringt den Vorschlag, im Austausch gegen Hilltops Vorräte, Negans übrige Männer zu töten, was von Maggie entsprechend ausgehandelt wird.
Er versucht Dwight auf eigene Faust zu finden, um sich zu rächen. Daryl sowie Glenn, Rosita und Michonne, die ihm folgen, werden daraufhin gefangen genommen und Daryl von Dwight angeschossen.
Daraufhin wird Daryl von Negan gefangen gehalten und psychisch gefoltert um ihn zu rekrutieren. Carol ist die Mutter von Sophia und Ehefrau von Ed.
Da ihre Kinder ein ähnliches Alter haben, verbringt sie häufig Zeit mit Lori und ist auch fürsorglich gegenüber Carl. Durch ihre Ehe mit ihrem patriarchalischen, gewalttätigen Machoehemann ist Carol vor und in den ersten Wochen nach der Apokalypse eine sehr unsichere und defensive Person, die kaum fähig ist, eigene Entscheidungen zu treffen.
In der zweiten Staffel verschwindet ihre Tochter spurlos. In dieser Zeit kommt sie Daryl näher, der sich wie kein anderer aus der Gruppe bemüht, Sophia lebend wiederzufinden.
In der dritten Staffel wird Carol nach dem Zombieangriff für tot gehalten, aber dann von Daryl lebend gefunden. Sie unterrichtet in der dritten Staffel die Kinder der inzwischen stark gewachsenen Gemeinschaft.
Dem sterbenden Ryan Samuels verspricht sie, auf dessen Töchter Lizzie und Mika so aufzupassen, als wären sie ihre eigenen. Während der Quarantäne tötet sie die mit dem Grippevirus infizierten Karen und David, woraufhin sie nach Aufforderung von Rick die Gruppe verlassen muss.
Wenig später gesteht Carol Tyreese ihre Tat an Karen und er verzeiht ihr. Sie zieht mit Tyreese und Judith weiter nach Terminus, wo sie in einer spektakulären Rettungsaktion ihre Freunde aus den Fängen der Kannibalen befreit.
In Alexandria angekommen, verkauft sie sich als brave, harmlose Hausfrau, während sie sich mit Rick und Daryl hinterrücks verschwört und sie in den Besitz von Waffen bringt.
Sie bedroht Sam, der sie beim Waffenklau beobachtet hat, sowie dessen Vater Pete. Als Alexandria von den Wölfen angegriffen wird, lässt sie ihre Tarnung kurzfristig fallen, nur um eine neue als Wolf anzunehmen und so den Ort mit allen verfügbaren Mitteln zu beschützen.
Danach macht sich eine gewisse emotionale Instabilität bei Carol bemerkbar. Sie beginnt unter Morgans Einfluss damit, ihre Entscheidungen in Bezug auf Menschen, die eine Bedrohung für sie und ihre Mitmenschen darstellen, zu hinterfragen.
Nachdem sie erneut gezwungen ist, einige Männer Negans zu töten, wird sie von einem der Männer, der verletzt überlebt hat, verfolgt und mit mehreren Schüssen aus Rache gefoltert.
Zwei Männer, die offenbar zu einer bisher unbekannten Gruppe gehören, tauchen daraufhin auf und bieten den beiden ihre Hilfe an.
Anfangs gibt sie sich betont unabhängig und distanziert, nach einer Weile zeigt sie jedoch offen ihre Gefühle.
Maggie hat eine starke Persönlichkeit mit einer rebellischen Ader und nimmt kein Blatt vor den Mund, wenn ihr etwas nicht passt.
Denkt sie zu Beginn noch genau wie Hershel, dass man Zombies heilen kann, wird ihr später klar, dass die mutierten Menschen verloren sind. In der dritten Staffel ist sie ein wichtiges Mitglied der Gruppe geworden und gehört neben Carol zu den einzigen beiden Frauen, die den Männern dabei helfen, die Gemeinschaft vor Angriffen der Zombies und Menschen zu beschützen.
Sie wird gezwungen, dem Governor von dem Gefängnis zu erzählen, nachdem sie gemeinsam mit Glenn entführt und gefoltert worden ist.
Beide werden von Rick gerettet. Glenns Heiratsantrag nimmt Maggie glücklich an und die beiden sehen sich fortan als Ehepaar. Währenddessen gesteht Eugene, dass er gar keine Kenntnis über ein Heilmittel gegen die Seuche hat und sie kehren zu Ricks Gruppe zurück.
Nach dem Verlust ihrer Schwester Beth als einzige überlebende Blutsverwandte verliert Maggie zeitweise ihren Lebensmut. Maggie versucht, Deanna von der Wichtigkeit Ricks und seiner Gruppe für ihr Überleben zu überzeugen und engagiert sich für seinen Verbleib in Alexandria.
In der sechsten Staffel erfährt man, dass Maggie schwanger ist. Nachdem Alexandria von der Existenz einer anderen friedlichen Gemeinschaft Hilltop erfährt, reist sie dorthin mit, um in Ricks Auftrag mit Hilltops Anführer Gregory ein Tauschgeschäft um Lebensmittel auszuhandeln.
Gemeinsam mit Carol wird Maggie bei dem Überfall auf eine von Negans Unterkünften gefangen genommen und entführt.
Die beiden entkommen, indem sie ihre Entführer töten. Zwischen Maggie und Aaron entwickelt sich eine gute Freundschaft. Deshalb besteht Aaron darauf, sie gemeinsam mit Rick und den anderen zum Arzt nach Hilltop zu fahren, als Maggie plötzlich schwer krank wird.
Auf dem Weg gerät die Gruppe in einen Hinterhalt Negans und wird gefangen genommen. Sie hatte einen dreijährigen Sohn namens Andre, der zu Beginn der Apokalypse verstarb.
Zuvor nahm sie den beiden Zombies die Fähigkeit, ihr Schaden zuzufügen, indem sie ihnen mit ihrem Schwert die Arme abhackte und die Unterkiefer entfernte.
Damit wurde sie für andere Zombies quasi unsichtbar und war so vor deren Attacken geschützt. Michonne ist skeptisch gegenüber Fremden und geht den Dingen genau auf den Grund, bevor sie sich auf sie einlässt.
Gemeinsam mit Andrea gelangt sie in die Siedlung Woodbury, wo der Governor die Leitung übernommen hat. Michonne spürt instinktiv, dass an der Siedlung etwas nicht stimmt.
Als sie Woodbury verlässt, wird sie von Merle im Auftrag des Governors verfolgt und angeschossen. Sie wird Zeuge von Glenns und Maggies Entführung und begibt sich zum Gefängnis, um den dort Lebenden davon zu berichten.
Nachdem Carl sich für ihren Verbleib ausgesprochen hat, beginnt sie sich in Ricks Gruppe einzufügen und ist bereits zu Anfang der vierten Staffel ein gut integriertes Mitglied.
Aufgrund ihrer Kampferfahrung und ihrer ehrlichen Art, ist Michonne ein wertvolles und geschätztes Mitglied der Gemeinschaft. Michonne wird gemeinsam mit Hershel vom Governor als Geisel genommen, als er erneut das Gefängnis übernehmen will.
Sie durchbohrt den Governor mit ihrem Schwert als dieser versucht Rick zu erwürgen und lässt Andreas und Hershels Mörder im Sterben liegend, mit der Aussicht sich zu verwandeln, zurück.
Dort wird sie zu Ricks Hilfspolizistin ernannt. Sie baut ein gutes Verhältnis zu Deanna auf und hofft, genau wie sie, auf eine Zukunft für Alexandria.
Michonne zeigt sich sehr betroffen über Deannas Schicksal, nachdem diese gebissen wird und in Jessies Haus allein zurückgelassen werden muss.
Ron, der Rick und Carl dafür die Schuld zuschreibt, richtet daraufhin seine Waffe gegen sie. Um Ron aufzuhalten, ersticht Michonne ihn von hinten mit ihrem Schwert.
Dabei löst sich dennoch ein Schuss aus seiner Waffe und bohrt sich durch Carls rechtes Auge. Während dieser von Denise verarztet wird, unterstützt Michonne Rick als erste im Kampf gegen die übrigen Zombies.
Wenig später werden Rick und Michonne ein Paar. Hershel ist ein alter Mann, der zusammen mit seinen Töchtern und einigen anderen Personen auf seiner Farm lebt, mit denen er am liebsten unter sich bleiben würde.
Als Carl jedoch von einem Mitglied seiner Gruppe, Otis, versehentlich angeschossen wird, rettet ihm Hershel durch eine Notoperation das Leben.
Da er vor dem Ausbruch der Epidemie Tierarzt war, ist Hershel der erste, der bei medizinischen Fragen um Hilfe gebeten wird. Er hat anfangs seine eigene Theorie zu der Seuche und glaubt, dass die Zombies nicht tot, sondern lediglich krank seien und durch ein geeignetes Heilmittel wieder zu normalen Menschen werden könnten.
Aus diesem Grund werden sie von ihm auch nicht getötet, sondern eingefangen und in seiner Scheune festgehalten. Shanes eindrucksvolle Demonstration der Unumkehrbarkeit des Zombiedaseins seiner mutierten Angehörigen bringt den streng religiösen Hershel wieder zur Vernunft, verleitet aber den trockenen Alkoholiker kurzzeitig dazu, mit dem Trinken wieder anzufangen.
In der dritten Staffel gehört Hershel zu den wenigen Personen, auf deren Rat und Zuspruch Rick vertraut und in seine Entscheidungen mit einbezieht.
Hershel wiederum zollt Rick seinen Respekt, indem er stets ehrlich zu ihm ist und mit ihm die eigenen Handlungen im Voraus bespricht.
Rick rettet Hershel auch das Leben, indem er ihm rechtzeitig den Unterschenkel amputiert, nachdem Hershel von einem Zombie gebissen wird.
Als Farmer besitzt Hershel wichtige Kenntnisse in Tierzucht und Ackerbau, was die Gruppe auch während ihres Aufenthalts im Gefängnis erfolgreich betreibt.
Hershel entwickelt väterliche Gefühle für Glenn und gesteht ihm dies. Als die tödliche Grippe ausbricht, hilft Hershel tatkräftig bei der Pflege und Heilung der Infizierten mit.
Zusammen mit Michonne wird er vom Governor entführt und als Druckmittel missbraucht, um einen Abzug von Ricks Gruppe aus dem Gefängnis zu erzwingen.
Als Rick auf den Erpressungsversuch seines Gegenspielers jedoch nicht eingeht, wird Hershel durch den Governor mit Michonnes Schwert geköpft.
Der ältere Bruder von Daryl ist ein Rassist, gewalttätig, aggressiv, drogenabhängig und gibt wenig auf die Meinung anderer. Ebenso wie Daryl wurde Merle von seinem alkoholkranken Vater misshandelt.
Direkt beim ersten Treffen gerät Merle in Konflikt mit Rick und wird von diesem auf dem Dach eines Hochhauses mit Handschellen festgekettet zurückgelassen.
Er sägt sich selbst die rechte Hand ab und verschwindet spurlos. Daryls und Merles Verhältnis ist nicht sehr herzlich, auch wenn die Brüder emotional doch sehr aneinander hängen.
Merle meint, er hätte alles getan, um einen Mann aus seinem Bruder zu machen und sei der einzige, der sich etwas aus ihm mache. Daryl hingegen empfindet es so, dass Merle niemals für ihn da war.
In der dritten Staffel ist er in der Siedlung Woodbury zu finden, die vom Governor geleitet wird. Nach der Flucht gelingt es Merle nicht, sich in die Gruppe von Rick zu integrieren.
Als er Michonne dem Governor ausliefern will, gesteht Merle ihr auf dem Weg zum Treffpunkt mit dem Governor, dass er die Morde, die er in dessen Auftrag begangen hat, bereut und lässt Michonne gehen.
Nachdem Merle zunächst einige Mitstreiter des Governors getötet hat, wird Merle von diesem durch einen Schuss in den Oberkörper getötet und nach seiner Verwandlung zum Zombie von Daryl gefunden und erlöst.
Bei dem Governor handelt es sich um den Anführer einer kleinen Siedlung namens Woodbury und den bislang gefährlichsten Antagonisten für Rick und seine Gruppe.
Er lässt prinzipiell niemanden mehr aus Woodbury gehen und sammelt abgeschnittene Köpfe seiner Opfer in Aquarien. Andere Überlebende sind für ihn nur mögliche Quellen für benötigte Dinge, die er sich mit Gewalt aneignet.
Er beginnt eine Beziehung mit Andrea, die zunächst keine Ahnung von seinem wahren Ich hat. In einem Kampf mit Michonne sticht diese ihm sein rechtes Auge aus und beendet zudem das Zombiedasein seiner Tochter Penny.
Durch diese Ereignisse verliert der Governor noch mehr Menschlichkeit. Er nimmt, nachdem beide ihn verraten haben, seinen einst wichtigsten Mitstreitern Merle und Milton das Leben und verhindert dabei bewusst nicht ihre Verwandlung.
Für Andreas Verrat rächt er sich, indem er sie erst foltert und dann gefesselt mit dem vor der Verwandlung stehenden Milton zurücklässt.
Nachdem Martinez und Shumpert den Governor alleine zurückgelassen haben, brennt der Governor Woodbury nieder und wandert daraufhin monatelang ohne Ziel durch die Gegend.
Als er seinen Lebenswillen völlig verloren zu haben scheint, sieht er durch das Fenster eines Hauses das Mädchen Meghan.
Als er mit seiner neuen Familie, zu der auch Lillys Schwester Tara gehört, vor den Ruinen von Woodbury Martinez begegnet, gibt er vor, sich Martinez in dessen neuem Camp unterordnen zu wollen.
Nachdem er Martinez und dessen Nachfolger getötet hat, übernimmt er die Führung des Camps und greift mit Michonne und Hershel als Geiseln das Gefängnis an.
Als Lilly mit der an einem Biss gestorbenen Meghan vor dem Gefängnis auftaucht, verhindert er die Verwandlung von Meghan und versucht daraufhin blind vor Wut das Gefängnis zu zerstören.
Beim Versuch Rick zu erwürgen wird er von Michonne mit deren Schwert durchbohrt und so zurückgelassen. Beth ist Hershels jüngere Tochter und Maggies kleine Halbschwester.
Da unter diesen auch ihre Mutter war, erleidet Beth daraufhin einen schweren Schock. Sie versucht sich umzubringen, begreift dabei aber, dass sie eigentlich weiterleben will.
Sie freundet sich in der dritten Staffel mit Carl an. Beth ist sehr sanftmütig und verfügt anfangs weder über Kampferfahrung noch den nötigen Umgang mit Waffen, um sich vor den Gefahren der apokalyptischen Welt verteidigen zu können.
Nach Loris Tod ist sie diejenige, die sich überwiegend um deren neugeborene Tochter Judith kümmert. Daneben engagiert sie sich beim Töten von Streunern am Gefängniszaun und lernt den Umgang mit Schusswaffen.
In der vierten Staffel muss sie hilflos zusehen, wie der Governor ihren Vater tötet. Nach der Zerstörung des Gefängnisses flieht sie mit Daryl und freundet sich nach anfänglichen Streitigkeiten mit ihm an.
Im Laufe der fünften Staffel zeigt sich, dass sie in dem Grady Memorial Hospital in Atlanta festgehalten wird und dort gezwungen ist, als Pflegerin zu arbeiten.
Einige ehemalige Polizisten und ein Arzt haben dort eine Unterkunft gebaut, die zwar gut zusammenhält, jedoch durch die Strapazen um die Anführerin Dawn belastet ist.
Beth freundet sich mit dem etwa gleichaltrigen Noah an. Bei einem gemeinsamen Ausbruchsversuch gelingt es nur Noah, zu entkommen.
Beth und die später ebenfalls dort gefangene Carol sollen im Rahmen eines Gefangenenaustausches mit Ricks Gruppe wieder zugeführt werden.
Dabei löst sich versehentlich ein Schuss aus Dawns Waffe und verwundet Beth tödlich. Daraufhin wird Dawn von Daryl aus Rache erschossen. Tyreese erreicht das Gefängnis als Anführer einer fünfköpfigen Gruppe, der auch seine Schwester Sasha angehört.
Er hat hohe moralische Wertvorstellungen, an die er sich stets zu halten versucht. Obwohl er ein guter Nahkämpfer ist und notgedrungen Zombies tötet, verabscheut er die Gewalt und ist des permanenten Überlebenskampfes müde.
Nachdem seine Gruppe von einem wegen seiner Halluzinationen nicht mehr zurechnungsfähigen Rick aus dem Gefängnis vertrieben wird, erreicht Tyreese mit seinen Leuten Woodbury und erzählt dort dem Governor von seinem Aufenthalt im Gefängnis.
Weil Andrea ihn vor ihrem Fluchtversuch vor dem Governor warnt, beginnt Tyreese jedoch misstrauisch gegenüber dem selbsternannten Oberhaupt von Woodbury zu werden.
Er weigert sich, an dem von Governor geplanten Massenmord an Ricks Gruppe im Gefängnis teilzunehmen und bleibt stattdessen in Woodbury zurück, um die dort verbliebenen Überlebenden zu beschützen.
Nachdem seine Freundin Karen ermordet wird, gerät er in einen Streit mit Rick. Auf der Suche nach Medikamenten für die mit der Grippe Infizierten zeigt er sich labil und gefährdet mehrfach die Gruppe.
Als das Gefängnis erneut vom Governor angegriffen und von Zombies überrannt wird, retten die Mädchen Mika und Lizzie ihn vor Angreifern.
Daraufhin schlägt er sich allein mit einem Baby sowie Lizzie und Mika durch die Wälder, bis er von Carol gefunden und fortan begleitet wird.
Auf ihrer Reise sieht sich Carol gezwungen, Lizzie zum Wohle der Gruppe zu töten, nachdem das Mädchen die eigene Schwester ermordet hat.
Tyreese sieht dies ein, kommt aber nicht mehr über dieses Erlebnis hinweg. Danach gefragt, wie sein Weg mit Carol für ihn war, erwidert er, dass es sein Tod war.
Mitte der fünften Staffel wird ihm von einem Zombie in den Arm gebissen. Rick, Michonne und Glenn kommen zur Hilfe und hacken seinen Arm ab.
Tyreese stirbt jedoch an den Folgen seiner Verletzungen und wird am Ende der Episode beerdigt. Sasha ist die Schwester von Tyreese.
Sie ist im Gegensatz zu ihrem Bruder eine gute Schützin und will auch nicht so bereitwillig wie Tyreese Risiken eingehen um anderen zu helfen und daher auch die ihrer Gruppe zugehörige, gebissene Donna vor dem Gefängnis zurücklassen.
Als sie ebenfalls an der tödlichen Grippe erkrankt, muss sie in Quarantäne, kann dort jedoch Hershel bei der Behandlung der anderen Kranken helfen.
Ende der fünften Staffel kommt sie mit ihren Leben nicht mehr zurecht und fürchtet, verrückt zu werden, nachdem ihr Freund Bob und ihr Bruder Tyreese gestorben sind.
In Alexandria pocht sie darauf, den Wachturm so oft wie möglich zu besetzen. Ansonsten zeigt sie keinerlei Bemühungen, sich in die Gemeinschaft einzugliedern und distanziert sich auch vom Rest von Ricks Gruppe.
Maggie greift rechtzeitig ein und bringt Sasha wieder zur Vernunft. Nach einer wilden Verfolgungsjagd mit feindlichen Unbekannten, müssen Abraham und Sasha sich, von Daryl getrennt, ein Versteck suchen, wo sie eine Nacht bleiben.
Dabei flirtet der eigentlich mit Rosita liierte Abraham offen mit Sasha. Zudem schlägt Abraham Sasha vor, nicht mehr nach Alexandria zurückzukehren, sondern zu zweit neu anzufangen.
Am nächsten Tag holt Daryl die beiden mit einem Truck an ihrem Versteck ab und die drei kehren, nach zwischenzeitlicher Auseinandersetzung mit einigen von Negans Leuten, unversehrt nach Alexandria zurück.
Nachdem Abraham sich von Rosita getrennt hat, werden er und Sasha ein Paar und planen sogar, eine Familie zu gründen. Beide begleiten Rick und die anderen nach Hilltop, als Maggie krank wird, und geraten so in Negans Falle.
In einer Rückblende erfährt man, dass er schon vorher Teil mehrerer Gruppen war, aber keine davon die Zeit überdauert hat.
Daraufhin ist er eine Zeit lang ziel- und antriebslos umhergezogen. Er selbst sagt, dass er nicht genau wisse, wie lang das so ging, bevor er zufällig von Glenn und Daryl aufgegriffen und in die Gruppe integriert wurde.
Bob zeigt sich reumütig und verabscheut sein eigenes Verhalten. In der Folgezeit zeigt Bob seine positive Seite als ein aufgeschlossener und ruhiger Mensch mit viel Optimismus.
Im Laufe der Zeit geht er eine Beziehung mit Sasha ein. Nach den Ereignissen in Terminus wird Bob nachts vor der Kirche von Gareth und den anderen Überlebenden aus Terminus gefangen genommen.
Als er seine Familie beschützen will und Menschen, die sie bedrohen, tötet, bekommt seine Frau Angst vor ihm und flieht mit den Kindern.
Eugene gibt vor, ein Wissenschaftler zu sein, der Kenntnis von einem Heilmittel gegen die Seuche besitze, und bittet ihn um Hilfe.
Glenn und Tara. Er lässt sich dazu überreden, Glenn auf der Suche nach Maggie zu helfen. Als der Bus, durch Eugene sabotiert, nach kurzer Strecke kaputtgeht, findet die Gruppe einen fahrtüchtigen Feuerwehrwagen, mit dem sie ihre Reise fortsetzt.
Abraham erleidet daraufhin einen Zusammenbruch und braucht eine Weile, um die Sache zu verarbeiten. Nach der Rückkehr zu Ricks Gruppe gelangt auch er nach Alexandria.
Dort engagiert er sich bei der Instandhaltung und Erweiterung des Alexandria umgebenden Zauns. Bei der Besorgung der benötigten Baumaterialien werden die Bauarbeiter von einer Zombieherde angegriffen.
Tief beeindruckt von seinem Einsatz, wird Abraham von den anderen unterstützt und später gegenüber Deanna in höchsten Tönen gelobt.
Der aktuelle Bauleiter Tobin tritt sogar seinen Job an Abraham ab, da er ihn für die bessere Wahl für den Posten hält. Am nächsten Tag holt Daryl die beiden mit einem Truck an ihrem Versteck ab.
Zurück in Alexandria fasst Abraham den Entschluss, sich von Rosita zu trennen. Er geht daraufhin eine Beziehung mit Sasha ein und plant mit ihr eine Familie zu gründen.
Während die Gruppe Maggie nach Hilltop fährt, gerät sie mehrmals an Negans Männer, die sie an einer Weiterfahrt hindert.
Die Figur des Eugene wird in der vierten Staffel als ein feiger, angeblicher Wissenschaftler vorgestellt, der behauptet, die Lösung für die Apokalypse zu kennen.
So konnte er seit deren Beginn andere Überlebende davon überzeugen, ihm dabei zu helfen, nach Washington D. Seine Behauptungen erweisen sich später als eine Lüge.
Dadurch trägt Eugene eine Mitschuld am Tod vieler Menschen, die in dem Glauben damit die Welt vor dem Untergang zu retten, ihn am Leben erhielten und für seine Mission starben.
Er kümmert sich um die technischen Anlagen des Ortes und entwickelt Lösungen, die der Gemeinschaft zugutekommen.
Zudem gewinnt Eugene zunehmend an Mut und beginnt damit, Erfahrungen in Selbstverteidigung zu sammeln. Eugene wird bei einem Trip mit Abraham, in dessen Verlauf sich die beiden streiten und trennen, von Dwight als Geisel genommen.
Dabei wird Eugene durch einen Schuss getroffen. Er begleitet dennoch Maggies Krankentransport nach Hilltop und wird ebenfalls von Negan gefangen genommen.
Rosita taucht gemeinsam mit Abraham und Eugene in der vierten Staffel auf. Über ihr Leben vor der Apokalypse ist nichts bekannt.
Sie ist mit Abraham liiert und begleitet ihn auf seiner Mission, Eugene, der vorgibt, die Lösung für die Apokalypse zu kennen, nach Washington D.
Dabei treffen sie auf Tara und Glenn und nehmen beide zunächst mit ihrem Wagen mit. Abraham bleibt danach Rositas wichtigste Bezugsperson.
Damit stellt auch sie einen wertvollen Zuwachs für Ricks Gruppe dar. Auch wenn sie sich gut integriert hat, werden nur selten Interaktionen mit weiteren Mitgliedern beobachtet.
In der sechsten Staffel scheint sie sich mit Tara angefreundet zu haben. Nach wenigen Monaten in Alexandria, scheitert Rositas Beziehung zu Abraham, worunter sie sehr leidet.
In der Gemeinschaft fungiert sie als Wache an der Mauer und hilft auch in der Krankenstation mit. Sie unterrichtet die unerfahrenen Mitglieder der Gemeinschaft im Umgang mit Waffen und in Selbstverteidigung.
Rosita wird von der Ärztin Denise gebeten, sie auf einen Besorgungstrip zu begleiten und Rosita überredet Daryl, mitzukommen.
Diese wird durch das plötzliche Auftauchen von Negans Männern jäh unterbrochen und Denise von Dwight durch einen Pfeil aus Daryls entwendeter Armbrust erschossen.
